Mississippi Delta Ducks, Duck Leases in Mississippi, Nathan Peden

Nathan Peden

Director of Wildlife Programs

Nathan Peden directs the wildlife programs for MS Delta Ducks, Deer and Farmland Properties, Inc. He was born in Meridian, Mississippi, where he spent his childhood and completed high school. Nathan began hunting at the age of five and killed his first deer and turkey at the age of seven. He started hunting local wood ducks in Lauderdale County at the age of twelve. During college, he embarked on his avid pursuit of Delta Waterfowl.

In addition to his love of the outdoors, Nathan had an outstanding high school and college baseball career. He attended East Mississippi Community College on a full athletic scholarship. Nathan batted .405 as a freshman and .398 as a sophomore finishing his career as a Community College All-American. Upon receiving a Forestry Technician Associates Degree from EMCC in 2008, Nathan entered Mississippi State University studying forestry as his major with a minor in wildlife management.

During the 2009-2010 duck season Nathan accepted a job assisting the field staff at MS Delta Ducks. At the completion of the season, he took a full-time position with the company directing the field staff. His work ethic and enthusiasm for the business led him to learn as many aspects of the business as possible. When the 2010-2011 season concluded, Nathan began working permanently in the corporate office directing the wildlife programs and assisting with the company’s business administration. During the summer of 2011, he was promoted to the position of corporate treasurer and now serves in the dual role of Chief Financial Officer and Director of Wildlife Programs. In the spring of 2012, Nathan was offered a full equity partnership in the company's Wildlife Division, setting on a lifelong course and commitment as a principal in the MS Delta Ventures. On July 17, 2015, he married Meghan Benson and brought the Madison girl to the Delta.

Nathan brings a vast amount of wildlife knowledge and experience to the company. He has hunted and fished extensively through the state and in the Blackbelt of Alabama. His passion is duck and turkey hunting where his calling ability is a major factor. Nathan, an Ol' Tom Field Expert, finds turkeys to be the biggest challenge because it takes a lot of patience, skill and determination to lure a big long-beard into range. A gifted dog trainer, Nathan works with the MS Delta Dogs, Cane, Reese and Rudy. A guided hunt with Nate and his dogs is a true Delta Waterfowl experience.
